LEGO Advent calendars are awesome. I’ve bought myself one every year for the past five or so years, and now my son is old enough, he gets one too. However, unless you’re organised they can be quite difficult to source, so welcome to our guide on where to buy LEGO advent calendars in 2021!

What is a LEGO Advent Calendar?
LEGO Advent Calendars contain 24 small builds around a specific theme, that count the days down to Christmas. In addition the calendar box doubles up as a play area for the builds containing a Christmas scene.
LEGO call the builds “mini-builds” – and they’re certainly that. They never usually take more than five minutes or so – perfect for little ones with small attention spans – and for AFOLs (Adult Fans Of LEGO)!
Every year LEGO produce a number of different themes – City, Star Wars, Harry Potter, Friends, and for the first time this year – Marvel Avengers! It’s going to be difficult to choose which to buy in 2021, that’s for sure.

Why buy a LEGO Advent Calendar?
Aside from the fact that more LEGO is never a bad thing, you get 24 extra Christmas presents! Minifigs, mini-builds, and a Christmas scene to play with and display them on.
Even better, they mesh perfectly with existing sets within the same theme, so can be a cost effective way to score some additional minifigs under a particular banner.
What more could you ask for? Well, maybe a LEGO Marvel Daily Bugle, or a LEGO City Rocket Assembly and Transport, but you won’t find them for less than £25.
When are they released?
They can be ordered from the LEGO website now, and other retailers later in September. If you know you want one, do not delay ordering – they sell out. Every. Single. Year.
Who stocks LEGO Advent Calendars?
The best place to pick up a calendar is direct from LEGO, that way you can guarantee the price hasn’t been hiked (yes Amazon 3rd party sellers, we’re looking at you).
That said, many other retailers usually carry stock, as well as the usual culprits like eBay.
Read on to find out about the calendars and where to buy them.
The Calendars
Every year LEGO produce calendars with a number of different themes. New for this year is the addition of a Marvel Avengers calendar!
LEGO City
I bought my son the 2020 City calendar – it was a really nice mix of minifigs (including Father Christmas!) and mini builds. He was just four at the time and was able to complete all of them himself without help. Out of all of the calendars, the City calendar is aimed at the youngest audience and a really nice intro for young ones to the LEGO ecosystem.

LEGO Harry Potter
Aimed at a slightly older audience, the Harry Potter calendar contains a nice selection of minifigures from the theme, a board game, and two random wizard card tiles.
If you’re new to the LEGO Harry Potter theme the calendar acts as a great starting point to base a collection from.

LEGO Marvel Avengers
New this year, this is going to be the LEGO calendar for 2021. AFOLs and kids alike will go bonkers and buy multiple, I guarantee it (me included). So, if this is the one you want, don’t wait past 1st September to snag your copy.
It contains no less than seven minifigs, and apparently “exciting items and amazing accessories from the Marvel Universe that kids will love”. Er hi, LEGO – 40 year old here!

Also guaranteed to sell out really quickly is the LEGO Star Wars advent calendar. This year the calendar is inspired by The Mandalorian Season 2 (what else?!), and includes a Mandalorian minifig, Baby Yoda and his hoverpram (ridiculously cute!).
Classic Star Wars fans are still catered for too, with models such as a TIE Fighter waiting behind one of the doors!

Wrapping Up
That wraps up (pun absolutely intended) the 2021 Lego advent calendar choices. With so many options, which calendar are you going to get?
